Did Lebron James buy a Pickleball Team?

After twenty seasons, Lebron James is well known on the basketball court. He’s also been engaged in charity work with the Boys and Girls Club and various business ventures. James is a partner in the Fenway Sports Group, Lyft, The Springhill Media Company. Tonal (smart gym equipment) and others. According to Forbes, his investments total $500 Million. On September 28, 2022, James added to his investment portfolio with a new purchase: a pickleball team.

On September 28, 2022, LRMR Ventures, an investment group including household names such as Lebron James and Maverick Carter purchased a Major League Pickleball (MLP) team. The team name and location was not disclosed and the price tag was not reported. LRMR ventures was created in 2006 in Akron, Ohio.

The MLP league is the premier cohort in the United States and is known for having the largest cash prizes for its athletes. The league recently expanded from a dozen teams to 16 with approximately six tournaments across the United States scheduled for the next year.

The country’s other professional pickleball league is the Pickleball Association (PPA) which has tournaments this year in Texas, Florida, California, and other locations.

Pickleball, a mix of tennis and racquetball, is the fastest-growing sport in the world.
